Most of us associate the Silk Road with Marco Polo, the great 13th century explorer. Simply evoking the words “Silk Road” or “Silk Route” immediately stimulates the imagination and gets any traveller’s wanderlust flowing. After finding a cheap flight and getting my China travel visa, I was on my way to Hong Kong last September.
