The Ontario government has proposed a new tax on aviation fuel, which would increase costs for travellers flying in and out of Ontario and air shippers by as much as $100 million.
A Conference Board of Canada study revealed that up to 5 million Canadian air travellers a year drive down to the US to avoid paying flight tickets. This number is expected to increase significantly if this new budgetary measure is passed.
