This isn’t just any old trip for you then; you’ve spent big bucks and brain cells planning the logistics of the trip. Don’t make the mistake of going to the World Cup without buying the right kind of travel insurance first!
What’s covered by travel insurance plans:
Emergency Medical Insurance
Provincial healthcare won’t cover everything for Canadians travelling to Brazil. Emergency medical insurance, however, will cover you if you’re injured or fall ill on the trip. Make sure you get the right vaccinations to enjoy the World Cup well before your trip too.
Who knows what could happen: the World Cup brings more than the usual levels of excitement to any destination. You’ll have more crowds to contend with, and there’s also an anticipated increase in theft and violence.
Many football fans will be partying! If you plan to partake in the festivities, keep in mind that injuries as a result of intoxication will likely be denied by your insurance provider.
If you accidentally miss a match (due to transportation snafus), or if your tickets are lost or stolen, know that your travel insurance won’t cover the cost to replace them.
Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption
Those airline tickets were expensive, right? If you unexpectedly get sick before the trip and have to cancel, trip cancellation and interruption insurance will cover the cost of your flight. The tickets to the games themselves, though, will not be covered.
