When you scroll through Instagram, it seems like everyone is travelling to Japan – and it’s easy to see why. A favourite destination for Canadians, Japan offers something for every type of traveller: from endless food options and matcha cafes to Pokémon Centres, ancient temples, and neon-lit city streets.

My wife and I recently went on a 12-stop tour of Japan, over a span of 15 or so days. This long-awaited trip acted as a “homecoming” of sorts, with both of us having lived in Japan nearly a decade ago.

For years, Japan has been on my bucket list. And finally, this year it was time to check it off. We’re incredibly lucky in Canada to be exposed to great international cuisine right in our own backyard, but nothing beats the real deal!
