Recently, I was part of a four-person team who travelled to Baffin Island, a remote part of Arctic Canada, for a sea kayaking and rock climbing expedition. The four of us are all passionate and committed rock climbers and outdoors people.

We were looking to book a last-minute trip somewhere warm. Have you been in this position? Obvious places spring to mind, and obvious clichés: we’ve been there before, so it will be easy… everyone goes there, but it’s not that busy… you can’t beat the five-hour direct flight…

Not to toot our own horn, but as a species, humans have made some pretty incredible things. You wouldn’t be reading this if we weren’t capable of producing incredible achievements in technology that allow us to explore the rest world from the comfort of home.
